ADDITIONAL TERMS AND NOTICES

This file forms part of the distribution of the Nomen software. It is to be read
together with the GNU General Public License, version 3 ("GPLv3"), the text of
which is contained in the file LICENSE. Capitalised terms have the meanings
given in Section 1 or, where not defined in this file, in GPLv3.

WHY THIS FILE EXISTS

Free software is rarely one person's work. A deployment of Nomen runs the
Program, the libraries it depends on, the plugins and skins its operator chose
to install, and the packages those bring with them. Each of them has authors,
and each carries a license of its own.

The Version Page is where a deployment names them. It lists the Program, the
plugins, the skins and the libraries, so that the people who wrote them are
acknowledged where their work actually runs. An attribution nobody can reach
credits nobody, which is why Section 2 asks for a link as well as the words,
and why Section 4 asks that the page stay public.

This is not a branding requirement. Nomen is free software: you may change it,
rename it and run it as you see fit. What these terms ask is that the chain of
credit survives being passed on, and that a deployment presenting itself as
Nomen keeps the page that says whose work it is. Section 6 provides the other
way out: rebrand, and the deployment no longer relies on the permission granted
there. Section 2 continues to apply whenever the Program itself is conveyed.

The GPL's own preamble makes the same argument at greater length.

1. DEFINITIONS

"Licensor" means the copyright holder named at the head of this file.

"Program" means the Nomen software as distributed by the Licensor, including its
source code, templates, default configuration and the Default Skin.

"Default Skin" means the skin distributed with the Program under the directory
name "nomen-2026", which provides the default page layout and the default site
footer.

"Attribution Notice" means the visible text "Powered by Nomen" contained in the
footer of the Default Skin. In the Default Skin that text is linked to the
Version Page.

"Front Page" means the first page of a Deployment that is served to a visitor
who is not signed in.

"Version Page" means the page served at the path /special/version of a
Deployment, or an equivalent page of that Deployment which displays the
copyright notice, the applicable license and the notices referred to in
Section 4.

"Deployment" means a running instance of the Program made available to users,
whether or not the Program is conveyed to those users.

"Convey" has the meaning given in Section 0 of GPLv3.

2. ATTRIBUTION (GPLv3 SECTION 7(b))

The Program, as distributed by the Licensor, displays the Attribution Notice in
the footer of the Default Skin. The Attribution Notice is a reasonable author
attribution within the meaning of Section 7(b) of GPLv3 and is preserved as an
additional term under that Section.

2.1 Upon conveying the Program or a modified version of it, the following two
requirements apply. They are independent of each other and may be satisfied by
a single element or by two separate elements:

    (a) the Front Page shall display the text "Powered by Nomen" in a form that
is perceptible to a human reader without interaction; and

    (b) the Front Page shall contain a hyperlink that is perceptible and
operable and that leads to the Version Page.

2.2 Neither element shall be concealed or rendered inoperable, including by
means of display:none, visibility:hidden, zero or negligible dimensions, color
matching the background, overlapping elements, off-screen positioning, disabled
pointer events, or any comparable technique.

2.3 The Attribution Notice may be relocated and restyled. The footer of the
Default Skin may be modified or removed only if the requirements of Section 2.1
are satisfied on the Front Page by other means, including by an equivalent
attribution supplied by you.

2.4 This Section applies equally where you replace the layout or templates of
the Default Skin, replace the Front Page, or incorporate the Program into
another work.

3. THIRD-PARTY SKINS

The Program supports skins other than the Default Skin. If you install,
distribute or deploy such a skin, you are responsible for verifying that the
requirements of Section 2.1 continue to be satisfied. A skin that removes or
conceals the Attribution Notice, without an equivalent attribution being
provided on the Front Page, does not satisfy these terms.

4. VERSION PAGE

A Deployment that relies on Section 6 shall keep its Version Page publicly
accessible. The Version Page shall not be restricted to administrators or
otherwise withheld from visitors.

For security reasons, a Deployment may omit or redact specific implementation
details from the Version Page, including without limitation installed component
versions, database server versions, interpreter versions, library listings and
filesystem paths, provided that the Version Page continues to display:

    (a) the copyright notice of the Program;
    (b) the license under which the Program is distributed; and
    (c) the attribution required by Section 2.

A Deployment should also make this NOTICE and the README of the Program
available on or through the Version Page, either by reproducing them or by
linking to them.

5. SOURCE CODE AND NOTICES

A Deployment may remove this NOTICE and the README from the Version Page,
provided that the Version Page then offers at least one of the following:

    (a) the complete corresponding source code of the Program; or

    (b) a reference to a location published by the Licensor from which that
        source code may be obtained,

and provided that the attribution required by Section 2 remains satisfied.

6. NAME AND MARKS

The name "Nomen" and the Nomen logo identify the Program and its origin. GPLv3
does not grant permission to use them, and nothing in this file grants such
permission except as stated below.

A Deployment may use the name and logo to identify an unmodified version of the
Program, and to state that it is based on the Program, provided that Section 2.1
is satisfied on its Front Page and that Sections 4 and 5 are satisfied.

If you modify the Program and do not wish to satisfy those requirements, you
shall rebrand the Deployment. The name and logo of the Program shall not then
be used to identify it.

This Section concerns the marks only. It does not limit any right granted to
you by GPLv3 in respect of the copyright in the Program.

7. GENERAL

Sections 2 and 3 are additional terms permitted by Section 7(b) of GPLv3 and
apply upon conveying the Program. Sections 4 and 5 are conditions of the
permission granted in Section 6 to use the name and logo, and apply to a
Deployment that relies on that permission. Nothing in this file restricts,
modifies or supersedes any right granted by GPLv3; in the event of conflict,
GPLv3 governs.
